Post Divorce Issue #1: Embrace Optimism

Developing an optimistic mindset is vital for both emotional and physiological stability and growth. A positive mindset sets your adrenaline on an upward drive with zero gravity. Negativity on the other hand, allows gravity to take over. Being a single mom can be overwhelming, but having the right mindset makes a huge difference. Thinking of yourself in very positive terms elevates your self-image, builds confidence, and increases your self-esteem. Positive thoughts encourage growth and a desire to be successful. With negative thoughts, you become a stepping stone for everyone else. Developing a positive mindset requires a conscious effort. One simple idea is to write your first name and then find positive acronyms for each letter of your name. Let’s say your first name is Lisa, for example. You are: Loving.Intelligent. Strong. and Assertive. It looks simple, and it is, but most importantly, it forces you to think of yourself in a positive way. When you persistently think of yourself positively, you force your subconscious mind to translate those thoughts into constructive behavior which re-enforces FAITH in yourself and in your abilities. Eliminating negative influences from your entourage will also encourage a positive mindset. It is difficult to think positive when you are surrounded by people who constantly put you down.
